Losika Writes News — African Australian
It always seems impossible until it is done -Nelson Mandela- I just watched the new season of #youcantaskthat tonight on the ABC which interviewed people of African backgrounds and got them to address stereotypical questions on being African such as - Did you grow up in a hut? Do African men have big appendages? Do Africans just drive taxis🚕? Is it okay for people to randomly touch your hair/skin? The show had a wide selection of people from different ethnic backgrounds and ages in different parts of Australia with different life experiences which was awesome 👏🏽👏🏽. Their answers, demeanour etc...
When groups of people/languages/stories are omitted from books, we are taught that these people/languages/stories don't exist and aren't as important as those that are displayed. Losika Writes aims to change this, one book at a time. Everyone's story and language deserves to be heard Everyone should be able to find themselves in a book So spend that time reading with them and to them... Buckle up for the ride through all the universe and the many stories that lie within the pages of a book. Happy reading with @losikawrites
A candle loses nothing by lighting another -James Keller- I had a beautiful autumn day meeting and mingling with many awesome chocolate people at @africaday_australia youth event. Public speaking is a craft I am trying to hone 🙈 and I think I went well today 😜🤞🏽. I learned a lot from everyone who was there and it's amazing what we can create by working collaboratively with our fellow chocolate people. As the African proverb goes, "one head does not contain all the wisdom"🤯 and I am thankful that people were willing to share their collective wisdom. Until next time... 😘😊
